Solar: Hot and Affordable

(By Bell Beth PR & Communications, A Green Advocate)

Princeton, N.J. (March 1, 2011) – The Solar Education Center (SEC), a leading provider of affordable solar renewable energy education and certification training, will present its popular Five-day Comprehensive Solar PV Design and Installation Course April 18-22 at Mercer County Community College’s Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m each day.  The course’s completion will be followed by a Solar and Renewable Energy Networking Reception.

”Within an industry that changes as frequently as renewable energy does in terms of standards, regulations and innovation – it is important to have not only a solid foundation but also the right foundation,” says Dessie Kirilova, Director of U.S. Operation for SEC which also offers solar pv, solar thermal, wind, sustainability and solar solar sales varied-length courses throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. “I take away the stress of the first step and set the direction of development. I am very excited to partner with Tim Razzaq in promoting and delivering solar education, credentialing and workforce development throughout New Jersey and across the U.S.”

Their upcoming course at Mercer is ideal for professionals from a vast spectrum of trades, including electrical; engineering; journalism; construction; as well as well as fire first-responders, realtors, salespeople, and entrepreneurs.  Any person or company seeking to get a jump-start into or improve the market presence in the growing solar industry should consider taking this course.

Offered at the cost of $1,395 compared to the standard $1,500-$3,000 range, participants will focus on the design, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of photo voltaic (PV) systems. Financial analysis – rebates, tax credits, financials – and the business aspect of the solar industry – policy and economy review will also be covered.

In addition to classroom instruction, students will learn, hands-on, the techniques used for proper installation and conversion of sunlight to electric power for both residential and commercial use.  The rigorous preparation meets requirements recommended by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), known as the “gold standard” for PV and solar thermal installation certification. After successful course completion students receive a Certificate of Completion.

Just as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings, NABCEP’s seal of approval of this course is an additional mark of professional achievement for those who complete it.

Kirilova maintains that completing the course is a smart way to gain a jump start or gain a stronger foothold into the growing solar renewable energy industry which is expected to increase approximately 40 percent a year due to market demand. Right now solar is the hottest market literally and figuratively in New Jersey,” she said. “The market is a viable alternative to traditional, less efficient energy sources such as coal and gas-fired electricity generation.”
