6-1 HOUSE PASSES BILL WITH TRUST FUND

The House passed a tax extender bill (H.R. 4213) with a $1.065 billion appropriation for the affordable housing trust fund, a refundable low-income housing tax credit for 2010, and a one-year extension of the New Markets tax credit program, with a $5 billion investment allocation for 2010.  The bill also includes a provision to tax a portion of the carried interest income from investment partnerships as ordinary income.

The Senate did not act on the bill before adjourning for the Memorial Day recess.
